Scope of organisation

BLOOD CANCER support organisation (non-CLL-specific)

Description

AMAL means HOPE in Arabic:

AMAL is The first CML patient organization in Morocco & north Africa to support patients with leukemia & similar diseases. founded in April, 16th, 2011 in Marrakech.

We are working on raising awareness and fighting stigma by organizing patient meetings, producing educational material, organizing activities in the hospital, we provide psychological support، sometimes medication and tests to patients in need without health insurance, clothes, toys and organize parties to patients and parents in the Hospital.

Since 2011 we have organized prevention campaigns in schools by organizing workshops with students in order to avoid tobacco, doing exercise and having a balanced diet.

Our objectives:

  • Improving access to CML treatment and correct monitoring to all patients.
  • Providing support to patients and families.
  • Raising awareness and fighting stigma.
  • Educating patients and parents.
  • Advocating to improve policies and decisions in favor of cancer patients.
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders.

“Dar Al Amal” the house of hope:

Our main project was building a patient home to allow Patients coming from remote areas to be accommodated and continue their chemotherapy cure and be treated with dignity.

Recognizing the need for additional support, we finally built “Dar Al Amal”, that we have inaugurated on the World CML Day 2022, a facility providing accommodation, transportation & assistance to leukemia & cancer patients of Mohamed 6 hospital in Marrakech.

The facility prioritizes patients & parents who face geographic distance from the hospital, financial constraints preventing accommodation payments, the need for medical procedures without continuous medical supervision, and the lack of psychological support.
