COVID-19 plus infection management plan to help protect our immunocompromised delegates at CLL Horizons 2024
Introduction
This document outlines the COVID-19 and infection, risk management and mitigation strategies for delegates attending CLL Horizons 2024. COVID-19 tests, masks, and hand sanitisers will be provided at registration. While mask-wearing is not mandatory, it is recommended for immunocompromised individuals and those exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness, such as coughing or sneezing. Delegates testing positive for COVID-19 must inform the Horizons Organising Team and will be advised of any further actions.
Mitigation Strategies
- Distribution of Supplies: Masks, COVID-19 test kits, and hand sanitisers will be provided to all delegates at registration.
- Symptom Management: All delegates are encouraged to take a Covid-19 lateral flow test on arrival at the conference (this test kit will be provided during registration). Delegates experiencing symptoms at any time during the conference should also take a further COVID- 19 test and wear a mask indoors to prevent infection spread.
- Immunocompromised Protection: Immunocompromised delegates are encouraged to wear masks indoors and maintain physical distance (where possible). Hand sanitisers are provided for convenient hand hygiene.
- Positive Test Reporting: Delegates must report positive COVID-19 results to the Organising Team and wear a mask. Appropriate actions will be taken to protect all attendees, this could include notifying all attendees of a mask-wearing recommendation to reduce risks of further transmission and could also include adjustments to activities.
Delegate Responsibilities
- Testing: Use the provided COVID-19 test at the start of the event and re-test if symptoms arise during the conference.
- Reporting: Notify the Organising Team immediately if testing positive for COVID-19.
- Mask Usage: Immunocompromised individuals should consider wearing masks indoors based on their personal health status. Delegates with symptoms must wear masks to protect others, particularly those at higher risk.
- Hygiene: Regular use of hand sanitisers is encouraged. Personal sanitizer bottles will be provided, and sanitiser stations will be available throughout the venue.
- Sticker System: Delegates can choose a sticker for their lanyard at registration to indicate their comfort level:
- Red Sticker: The delegate is immunocompromised and prefers personal space.
- Green Sticker: The delegate is comfortable with regular social interaction (e.g., handshakes).
In the Event of a Positive Test
- Reporting: Delegates must report a positive COVID-19 test to the Organising Team.
- Notification: All attendees will be informed of the positive case and advised to wear masks indoors.
- Follow Local Guidelines: The affected delegate must adhere to local health protocols for testing. The team will assess further mitigations to ensure the safety of all in attendance.
This plan aims to ensure the health and safety of all delegates, with special consideration for those who are immunocompromised.
