Cancer counselling services in Germany are seeing more and more cancer patients grow lonely while shielding. Since providing face-to-face support is currently not possible, cancer patient support hotlines have been set up where shielded patients can call. In some cases, the hotline staff is also calling patients on their own initiative. For some patients, this can be a kind of lifeline in these difficult times. At the end of the telephone consultation there is always the promise of the hotline staff to call again in the following week. This gives the lonely cancer patients at least a little bit of emotional stability and provides structure in their daily routine. Thanks to all those taking care of cancer patients under these especially challenging circumstances!
