CLL Horizons 2021

GO TO CLLHZ 2021 AGENDAGO TO CLLHZ 2021 VIDEOS

The 4th CLL Horizons Conference 2021 (CLLHZ 2021) was held from 5-7 November in a fully virtual format.

The conference was spread over three days running from Friday thru Sunday and was conducted in English. Some sessions were duplicated to allow participation of attendees joining from the APAC region. The agenda included topics of importance to the CLL patient community and provided a unique opportunity for participants to share experiences and best practice. When shaping the agenda, the CLL Horizons planning committee had taken into consideration the feedback gathered from the participants of the previous Horizons conference. The results of CLLAN´s 2021 “Global CLL resource mapping & unmet needs survey” have further helped shape the content for this year´s conference. With that, CLL Horizons 2021 was not just “another conference” but did in fact evidence the real time unmet needs of CLL patient groups and CLL support provision worldwide and thus became an offering that is representative of the needs collected on the ground and the priorities identified in the survey.

Renowned experts and speakers from different parts of the world offered interesting medical and advocacy sessions, supporting interactive panel sessions. Among the speakers were: Prof Florence Cymbalista from France, Prof Con Tam from Australia, Prof Anna Schuh, Dr Talha Munir, and Anne Crook (all from UK), Dr Nicole Lamanna from USA, and Dr Alina Gerrie and Dr Banerji (both from Canada).

Similar to previous Horizons conferences, we again had a POSTER AREA – virtual this time! Posters were judged by delegates who could place their secret votes via poll function. The top-3 posters were awarded a prize!

Attendees were also invited to submit their ABSTRACTS on a best practice example around “The impact of the pandemic on Patient Organisations – best practice examples of transforming challenges into opportunities”. Four  abstracts had been selected and winners got the opportunity to present these in our “Hear from the regions” on Day 2. These were:

  • CLL Canada (Canada)
  • Flute of Light (Israel)
  • Hematon (The Netherlands)
  • Leukaemia Care (UK)

Participating patient organisations were given the chance to make themselves visible and showcase their activities, materials and projects in our EXHIBITION AREA. Many organisations shared the great work they have been doing! Thanks for all your submissions!

ENGAGEMENT WAS REWARDED! Participants could win points by completing the feedback form at the end of each day or by taking polls – those earning the most points and ranking highest on the leaderboard got to win a prize! Congratulations to our winners from India and Germany!

Day 2 ended with some light-hearted entertainment. Participants could enjoy a one of a kind interactive magic show featuring magician Darren Delaney!
